Criteria for Legal Aid Services
SN Description 1. A member of a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe. 2. A victim of trafficking in human beings or beggar as referred to in Article 23 of the Constitution. 3. A woman or a child. 4. A person with a disability as defined in clause (I) of Section 2 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act. 1995.

- iii. Leprosy-cured
- iv. Hearing impairment
- v. Locomotor disability
- vi. Mental retardation
- vii. Mental illness
5. A person under circumstances of undeserved want such as being a victim of a mass disaster, ethnic violence, caste atrocity, flood drought, earthquake, or industrial disaster. 6. An industrial workman. 7. A person in custody, including custody in a protective home within the meaning of clause (g) of Section 2 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956 or in a juvenile home (Observation Homes, Special Homes, Place of Safety, Children Homes) within the meaning of Section 47, 48, 49, 50 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 or in a psychiatric hospital or psychiatric nursing home within the meaning of Clause (g) of Section 2 of the Mental Health Act 1987. 8. In cases of great public importance. 9. In special cases, reasons for which are to be recorded in writing and considered otherwise deserving of legal service. 10. Transgender People. 11. A Senior Citizen of India who has attained the age of 60 years or above. 12. Cancer Patient. 13. HIV Patient. 14. Any citizen of India whose annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 150,000 (One Lakh Fifty Thousand) shall be entitled to get legal services.
